The Auto Club of America was founded in 1976 to serve the needs of motorists and travelers. Originally, ACA marketed its memberships in a retail environment through a direct sales force. Today, ACA still employs a direct sales force but a large portion of membership sales are generated from corporate clients in the insurance and banking industries, associations, the auto industry and Internet affiliates. In addition to finding success as a provider of consumer and business services, ACA has experienced growth through the acquisitions of World Wide Motor Club, United Automobile Association and the Travel Aide and Safety Association.

Bud Belz – President
Founder of the Auto Club of America in 1976, Mr. Belz has been President of the Board since its inception. Mr. Belz entered the auto club business in 1965. He received a BA degree from the University of Oklahoma, and an MBA from Oklahoma City University. He is a graduate of Travelers Insurance Company courses and the SAFECO Insurance School in Seattle, Washington. He has been very active in the National Association of Travel Organization (NATO, which is the trade association for auto clubs) and has held several offices in the organization, including that of president in 1989 and 1997. In 1999, NATO named Mr. Belz Executive Director, which is the organization's only permanent position, for his lifetime achievement.
